South Carolina reported an increase in its export sales, hitting $37.3 billion in 2023. This was an impressive rise, averaging an annual growth of 4.4% from 2013 rates, surpassing the national average of 3%.

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Governor Henry McMaster, the South Carolina Department of Commerce, and the South Carolina Ports Authority provided these statistics. The automotive industry, led by key exporters like BMW, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz Vans, was the primary driver of this growth.

Other significant contributors include the aircraft and aerospace component industry, led by giants like Boeing and manufacturers in the medical equipment and pharmaceutical sectors. Echoing the dynamism of South Carolina’s economy, machinery, plastic, and rubber products have also added to the state’s robust export figures.

Government strategies have played a crucial role in this economic success, fostering an environment conducive to business operation and expansion.
